SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced plans to distribute shares, currently owning approximately 4.8 billion of the company's shares. Including unvested awards and options, his holdings amount to 6.4 billion shares, or 48.4% of the beneficial stake.
Musk did not disclose how the distribution will be organized, calling it the first in a series of similar initiatives. Prior to this, Anthropic announced plans to allocate a portion of its own shares to a new public benefit fund, and Musk recommended transferring shares directly to the population.
