Climatologist Claire Barnes from Imperial College London stated that the summer of 2026 can be confidently considered the deadliest due to heat in the entire observation period.

Among the deceased were not only elderly people: approximately 6,000 victims were under 65 years old. Researchers believe that the past summer became the deadliest since such statistics began being recorded.

Epidemiologist Pierre Masselot noted that cities are poorly adapted to rising temperatures. He called for expanding green zones and reducing environmental pollution.
