US President would like to visit Uzbekistan — Marco Rubio
Washington intends to work out possible dates for the visit over the next year, and American companies are interested in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is visiting Samarkand, stated that he cannot comment on the president's travel schedule. However, he noted that the head of state would like to visit Uzbekistan if such an opportunity arises.
According to Rubio, bilateral relations focus on economic opportunities and mutually beneficial cooperation. He added that in recent decades, Central Asia has not received sufficient attention from American politicians.
Rubio also described Uzbekistan's economy as rapidly developing and stated that the US intends to explore opportunities for further engagement in cooperation with the republic.
