One person killed in collision of two helicopters near Everest

A citizen of India was killed and several others injured in a collision between two helicopters at the Pheriche landing site near Everest.

The accident occurred on November 3 as the helicopters were approaching for landing. The collision took place at an altitude of approximately 4,200 meters in Pheriche—one of the main points on the route to Everest Base Camp.

According to Nepali media, the accident involved helicopters operated by commercial carriers Fishtail Air and Air Dynasty. Pheriche is located in the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality of Solukhumbu District, roughly 150 kilometers northeast of Kathmandu. Helicopters are regularly used in this area for transporting tourists and evacuating climbers.

The deceased Indian citizen was aboard the Fishtail Air helicopter. Among the injured was a New Zealand citizen of Indian origin, who was airlifted to Mediciti Hospital by a Prabhu Helicopter aircraft.
