ChatGPT Gains Ability to Create GIF Animations

OpenAI has unveiled the Images 2.6 model, which allows users to generate short, looped GIF animations from text prompts or uploaded images.

Users can bring drawings and characters to life, create memes, social media reactions, and animated advertising materials. For instance, it is sufficient to upload an image and request the character to wave a hand.

According to OpenAI, the new model generates images 50% faster than the previous version and better preserves the details of characters and products during editing. Images 2.6 is available in ChatGPT and Codex across all pricing tiers. Developers are offered two versions via API: Flare for speed and Sunburst for more detailed image processing.
