Claude gains tool for analyzing bank accounts
Anthropic has added a 'Personal Finances' feature to Claude. It allows users to connect accounts and cards via Plaid but operates in read-only mode.

Using the new tool, users can ask Claude questions about their finances after linking bank accounts and credit cards. The chatbot will display balances and transactions, explain financial terms, and analyze spending by categories—such as rent and utilities, food, or purchases.
Claude will also be able to identify duplicate charges, unexpected fees, and gradual increases in recurring payments. Users can clarify whether their expenses exceed their income, compare spending to their usual level, or find out what percentage they have paid over the past year.
Anthropic emphasizes that Claude only accesses the bank's name, account name and type, the last four digits of the account number, the balance, the credit limit, and the transaction history for up to two years.
Conversations in the 'Personal Finances' section are not used for AI model training. The beta version will be available this week to users in the U.S. with Pro, Max, and Ultra subscriptions. Account linking is performed via the Plaid service.
